The Morgans have owned Norwalk Furniture for the past 25 years!  So when it came time to replace the old and furnish the new home, Carol knew there was only one vendor she could count on for long-lasting durability.  She discovered that Ccino carried Norwalk, and thus the beginning of another long relationship was formed.

After the initial site visit, it was determined that the color palette would accentuate… the beautiful fireplace, which was done in swirling onyx with rich shades of rust, various shades of green, and ivory.  The existing art the Morgans had looked lost on their high 16′ vaulted ceilings, so a new piece was selected that would accentuate the earth tones and bring the eye up.

With a new grandson and many friends and family gatherings, the fabric needed to be durable and able to withstand the traffic.  A sectional with a chaise and a sofa were implemented in the same coordinating fabrics.  To the right of the fireplace, a comfortable and stunning Candice Olsen “Ollie” cuddle chair and a half was selected. The fabric on this chair became a nice focal point as well, and was done in a large-scale floral with earthtones of brown, green, and red.  A leather tufted storage ottoman was placed in front of the sectional for additional storage, and black wood accents were chosen for side tables.

Good design doesn’t have to break the bank, and by using the bones of the existing space, inspiration can go a long way.  The finished result was one of practicality, comfort, and charm.

Mason came to ccino and was ready to create a home he was proud of, one that displayed his classy contemporary style.  He had two sets of prints that he absolutely loved and wanted to incorporate these into his new Aksarben Loft in Omaha.  The tricky part of this project was that the lofts were not even completed and all I had was a tiny 1/8″ scaled floor plan and his paintings to work from.  Talk about a small space challenge!  His living area had an angled wall and measured 14′ x 10′ with an opening to his third level deck.  Working an appropriate amount of comfortable furniture into this space, but not overcrowding it is vital.  The great news?  Art is always a great inspiration and starting point for any room.

He mentioned his love for cooking and entertaining, and was hoping to have seating enough for 8 at any given time.  He also was in love with cool gray tones, soft blues, and wanted a clean masculine look.  I began the design process with my floor plan and found a smaller-scaled sofa that fit better in the space by placing it at an angle.  If done effectively, angling furniture pieces can be a simple fix to opening up a room and can give any room a unique perspective; it also allows traffic patterns to run more naturally.  The two red ottomans have an optional tray on the underside and can be used for seating as well.  They also serve as additional storage and their bright hue is a nice pop of visual interest to the other cool tones in the space.

We kept a visual flow within Mason’s loft and did the bedroom in a softer shade of gray–Sherwin Williams unusual gray–and placed a large 48″ x 60″ giclee over the bed.  A custom runner rug was placed to the side of the bed in gray and slate blue.  Other finishing touches in the loft included a butter cream painted entry, white leather bar stools, and compimentary purple and red barstools for the deck.  This space captures bachelor cool, while keeping an adhesive flow and utilizing furniture meant for a small space.
